Edward Yaw O. "Ed" Asafu-Adjaye (born 22 December 1988 in London, England) is an English footballer, currently playing for Luton Town.

Career

The pacey youngster can operate anywhere in defence and was handed the squad number 32 by then Luton boss Mike Newell during an injury crisis in Janurary 2007. Although born in London, Asafu-Adjaye qualifies to play for Ghana through his father.

Asafu-Adjaye then enjoyed a loan spell at Isthmian League Premier Division side Walton & Hersham, making his debut for the Swans in March 2007 and scoring in a 1-0 win over Carshalton Athletic. He went on to make 7 appearances during his loan spell, playing in his preferred position at right-back and scoring 3 goals.

A defender, Asafu-Adjaye was rewarded with a one-year professional contract during the summer of 2007.

Unable to break into the Luton Town side at the beginning of the 2007-08 season, he was loaned to Conference National side Salisbury City in mid-January 2008 by new Hatters manager Mick Harford, who had replaced. He went straight into the side and made his debut in a 3-1 home win over Oxford United. He went on to make 14 League appearances for Salisbury, during which time he earned several man-of-the-match accolades.citation

With Luton Town in administration, and heading for relegation to League Two, manager Mick Harford decided to recall Asafu-Adjaye from his loan spell in late March, and he made his Luton Town debut in a 2-1 home victory over Crewe Alexandra just days after returning to Kenilworth Road. He quickly became a regular fixture in the side, and something of a crowd favourite - although referred to simply as "Ed", or "Mr Ed".

Operating at right-back, he went on to make 7 League appearances for the Hatters in the 2007/08 season, also playing several games in the centre of defence.
