"Falling" is the first of two singles taken from Julee Cruise's 1989 debut album "Floating into the Night" along with Rockin' Back Inside My Heart.

Popularity and legacy

"Falling" went on to become the instrumental theme for the TV series "Twin Peaks" and won a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental. The song reached #11 on the US Modern Rock charts, #7 in the UK charts and #1 on the Australian singles charts. A remixed version was also released. It is arguably the most successful (at least in commercial terms) of any song of the Dream pop genre. The genre is generally viewed as not radio friendly hence commercially accessible. Even now the song is featured on well over 50 compilations and is widely viewed the pinnacle of Julee Cruise's career.

Video clip

A music video was produced featuring Julee Cruise performing the song through soft curtains and dramatic red lighting. It fades to various scenes from the TV series "Twin Peaks". The video clip can be viewed on YouTube by following the link below.
