Robbie Myers

Roberta Myers is currently the editor-in-chief of the US edition of fashion magazine "Elle", taking over the job from her predecessor, Elaina Richardson.

Career

Prior to "Elle", Myers has worked for various magazines in the fashion industry, beginning her career as an editorial assistant at "Rolling Stone" shortly after moving to New York City in 1982. Upon leaving "Rolling Stone", she found herself a steady stint in the magazine world, working for other magazines such as "Seventeen" and "InStyle" among others. But it was her job as editor of magazine "Tell" that would land her her very first stint working at "Elle". Like "Tell", "Elle's" parent company is Hachette Filipacchi, whose then vice-president and editorial director Jean-Louis Ginibre noticed her talent, eventually naming her as "Elle's" senior articles editor in 1995.

Myers would go on working at "Elle" for two years before moving as editor-in-chief of fashion magazine "Mirabella", which was founded by and named after former "US" Grace Mirabella in 1989. The magazine, which since its conception, has been struggling in its finances, was purchased by Hachette in 1995, and Myers would begin work as its head in 1997, taking over a failed empire drowning in financial and advertising losses. She stayed with the "Mirabella" through a number of staff cutbacks and a thinning fanbase until Hachette ceased the magazine's operations in mid-2000. Fortunately though for Myers, a spot opened at "Elle's" editorial staff, and she was subsequently named its editor-in-chief in 2000.

Personal Life

Myers attended Colorado State University. Not much is known about her family, though sources suggest she grew up in the Midwest. Her first child, Francesca, was born in October 2000.
