Enterprize Canada is a student-run entrepreneurial business plan competition and conference that has been renowned as one of the largest events of its kind in Canada [ [http://www.publicaffairs.ubc.ca/media/releases/2006/mr-06-022.html/ "UBC Hosts Canada's Largest Student Business Plan Competition with $100,000 in Prizes"] ] . Established in 2001 under the leadership of founder Michael Lee and other undergraduate business students from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, over 300 student-delegates from across Canada are in attendance annually in this two-part event held in Vancouver, British Columbia [ [http://www.bdc.ca/en/about/mediaroom/news_releases/2007/20070305.htm?cookie%5Ftest=2/ BDC News Release] ] .

Mission

The mission of Enterprize Canada is to facilitate a world-class forum for some of the brightest young entrepreneurs in the nation by providing a platform to showcase the future of Canadian innovation, as well as connecting young students with the entrepreneurial spirit.

Conference

Held in Vancouver, BC, the conference has hosted over 300 delegates annually [ [http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/February2008/27/c6103.html/ "From Vision to Venture"] ] from across Canada. Students from a wide range of disciplines are connected through a series of interactive workshops, professional networking sessions, and nightly social events. The 2009 competition and conference will be hosted from February 6th to 8th at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver Hotel.

Business Plan Competition

The business plan competition will bring together teams of two to six students from several accredited Canadian post-secondary institutions. Teams first participate in regional competitions in their respective regions:

*Enterprize West 2008 - Simon Fraser University
*Enterprize Central 2008 - York University
*Enterprize Quebec 2008 - Concordia University
*Enterprize Atlantic 2008 - Dalhousie University

The top business plans from each region will go on to compete in the national competition in Vancouver, BC in early February.

In 2008, 100 teams from 16 different Canadian post-secondary institutions were selected to compete in their respective regional competitions. Of these 100, the top three were chosen from each of the four regions to compete in the national finals in Vancouver. Over $80,000 in prize money was awarded in 2008, with a $20,000 business grant awarded to the top team. [ [http://www.enterprize2008.com/ Enterprize 2008] ]
