SVRCET

"SVRCET" was originally one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges established by the Government of India in the 1960s.

SVRCET or Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering and Technology was based in Surat and offered Bachelor of Engineering courses, while being affiliated to the South Gujarat University.

In 2002, SVRCET was upgraded to one of the 17 National Institutes of Technology by Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and renamed as "Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat" (also called "NIT Surat"). It is one of the premier technological institutes of India.
