Elizabeth Bonner

Elizabeth "Beth" Bonner (1952 - 1998) was a long-distance runner from Reedsville, West Virginia [ [http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1085460/index.htm Sports Illustrated, October 25, 1971] ] . She is most remembered for achievements in women's marathon in 1971. In that year she became the first winner of the women's division of the New York City Marathon at the age of 19. She also became the first woman to complete a marathon in under three hours by winning said marathon. In 1994 she was coaching in Louisiana.
