The world's first Beatles-Platz ( _de. Beatles Place/Plaza) was opened on 11 September 2008 in the German city of
Hamburg , at the place where theThe Beatles started their career: On the crossroadsReeperbahn /Große Freiheit .The place looks like an over dimensional
record with astroboscope rim, with more than 100 high-tech square lights which are inserted into the ground, affords a lightshow programme as well as special underground works. Steel plates (bands) with song texts of The Beatles, will be inserted into the actual record grooves of the monument. The concrete pavement of the Platz will be covered with a layer of black granite. groundbreaking finally took place 29 May 2008 in the presence of sponsors and officials. Meanwhile the estimated construction costs rose from 100,000 to 500,000 €. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" and "Can't Buy Melove ". [Note: mistake in bold by author] These mistakes were commented as "Shit happens" by the Municipal Councillor Markus Schreiber of the
Hamburg-Mitte borough. As ofSeptember 14 2008 the new inscription was ordered.
