Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Rik Carey the son of a very popular songstress (Mother) and a very well respected Guitarist (Father), it was destined for Music to be a very major roll in his life. They (his parents and family) realized that as soon as his father placed a pair of drum sticks in his hands and played on a bunch of pots and pans a the age of 4 yrs old. Through out his development, he has established a career in the Bahamas as Drummer for some local bands and a producer for local studios, workin with numerous young and upcoming talent. He went on to take his music to another level, when he achieved a spot as the lead vocalist for the world famous
Baha Men in 2000. Rik quickly developed as a young International recording artist and a producer, as he and the BAHA-MEN toured all across the globe, performing their albums and achieved a great success of the now entity, "Who let the dogs out." To this day the song they did is still heard and loved by masses all over the world. Selling more than 7 million records world wide, more than 3 million in USA, earned Rik and the BAHA-MEN the Grammy award for "best dance recording in 2000", 2 Billboard awards for "world music album of the year 2000" and world music song of the year 2000", 2 Nichelodeon Kids choice awards for favourite band. When not travelling across the world performing, Rik can be found at several recording studios in Nassau, Bahamas where he does most of his production with local and international artist.Influences
Rik's main influences come from the many styles of the caribbean varying eliments of Soca, Dancehall, R&B, and HipHop, sometimes blended with a native sound from the Bahamas called "Junkanoo" and "Rake n Scrape." Sum of Rik's many influences come from mainly Caribbean artists, Hip-Hop and R&B artist from all over the world. Rik also has a great love for music from the 70's & 80's, after all he was born in 1977 so his Mom, Dad and Family would often play old records and often practice for their Band Gigs (High Voltage, Sweet Exorsist, Snap Shot.) Close friends and Family members have also a great influential roll in his life such as Sheki (wife and Recording Artist), Pat Carey (Father & Guitarist), Sketch (Lil Brother, Producer & R&B Recording Artist), M.Deez (Dancehall & Reggae Artist), Zoltan Johnson (Producer for Stereotypez Music), Charlie Brown "Nigh"(Producer), BahaMen (Grammy Awarded Band), and just about most BAHAMIAN Musicians and Recording Artist known and Unknown.
