David Peter Wilcox is a former Suffragan Bishop of Dorking [ Crockfords On line- accessed Saturday 24th May 2008, 11:07] . He was born on 29 June 1930 and educated at Northampton Grammar School and St John's College, Oxford [Who’s Who 2008 (London, A & C Black, 2008 ISBN 9780713672576] .Ordained in 1955 he began his career with a Curacy at St Helier, St Peter (Bishop Andrewes Church) [ [http://www.parishofsthelier.co.uk/ Parish website] ] Hammersmith [ Crockford’s (Ibid)] in the Southwark Diocese and was then successively [Debrett’s People of Today: Ed Ellis,P (1992, London, Debtrett's) ISBN 1870520092)] : a Lecturer at "Lincoln Theological College" ; a USPG Missionary in Bangalore; Vicar of Great Gransden ;Canon Residentiary of Derby Cathedral and Principal of Ripon College Cuddesdon before ascending to the Episcopate -a post he held from 1986 until 1995 [ [http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article1711881.ece Incident during his episcopate] ] .
