Get Smart " television series that ran from 1965 to 1970.Overview
An historical feat for the "Get Smart" franchise
With the revival series on FOX, "Get Smart" became the first television franchise to air new episodes on each of the current four major American television networks, although several TV shows in the 1940s and 1950s aired on
NBC ,CBS , ABC and DuMont. The different versions of "Get Smart" did not all feature the original lead cast intact. The first four seasons of the original "Get Smart" series aired on NBC, while the fifth and final season aired on CBS. Meanwhile, the 1989 reunion movie "Get Smart, Again! " aired on ABC.ynopsis
The relative success of "
Get Smart, Again! " eventually prompted the development of a weekly revival of "Get Smart" withDon Adams andBarbara Feldon reprising their characters (Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 respectively). Maxwell Smart was now the Chief of CONTROL, his and 99's (now a politician) bungling son, Zach (Andy Dick ), becomes CONTROL's star agent. Zach is teamed with the relunctant Agent 66 (Elaine Hendrix ), as they try to stop KAOS from controlling the world's economy (after theCold War , they had to lower their standards). Joining Zach and 66 is Trudy (Heather Morgan ), the revival's equivalent of Larabee; Agent 0, a master of disguise. Dave Ketchum reprised his role of Agent 13 in one episode.Though Zachary Smart's name was revealed in the FOX revival, his sister's name remains as yet unrevealed.
Cancellation
The show failed to recapture the spirit of the original. There weren't high hopes for the series as
Andy Dick had already moved on to "NewsRadio ", which premiered weeks later in 1995.References
