Queensland ,Australia who play in the Queensland State League (QSL).Club History
Following the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Sunshine Coast football enjoyed some of the most significant growth in player numbers within Queensland. Growth has occurred across all sectors of the game but particularly in younger players and females.
It became obvious that despite the marketing and development programs being very successful in increasing the number of players entering the code, there was still a need to provide development opportunities for elite players.
Noel Woodall (Managing Director, Sunshine Coast FC Pty Ltd) has been a strong supporter of the new QSL. As a professional statewide league, the QSL presents an opportunity for regional elite players to show case their skills. As such, the QSL will provide pathways not previously available to Qld players seeking advancement in their football career. Sunshine Coast FC Pty Ltd was established in 2007 by Noel Woodall to provide Sunshine Coast players with this opportunity.
The club also incorporates a ladies team and will expand to include a youth team in 2009. The ladies team won the local 1st division premiership remaining undefeated thorough out the season and also reached the semi-finals of the Brisbane Premier Cup. They will seek inclusion in any future SE corner women’s league.
Academy
The Sunshine Coast FC Junior Football Academy is a unique coaching program based on the Sunshine Coast. It is a professional coaching Academy specialising with the 3-5 year olds (squirts), 6-10 year olds (junior) and 11-16 year olds (youth).
The squirts program is an established program and looks at learning football through non-competitive fun and games. This program is a stepping-stone into the junior academy.
The junior academy is a program, which will develop technical and tactical skills and provide a high level of skill development while learning the fundamentals of the game.
The youth academy program is aimed at developing players who have the desire to represent the Sunshine Coast FC in the state competition. This is the stepping-stone to a career in playing football and will give players the exposure to showcase their talents.
It is our aim to give the player the best opportunity to succeed in their footballing life.
