Advertising.com now has a book value of approximately 10 billion dollars and is the cornerstone of AOL's future. John and Scott were named in 2000 as Entrepreneurs of the Year by Ernst and Young LLP.

Career

John has been a visionary in the development of online marketing software. He began his professional career with the development of the first online interactive game, HoverRace. His success with the introduction of HoverRace was quickly followed by a series of innovative marketing and e-commerce tools that ultimately led to his formation of Instant Access Communications, Inc. and a software product called ClickTracker – a measurement tool that enabled the tracking and measurement of sales on Internet sites. ClickTracker laid the foundation for the formation of Advertising.com in early 1998.

In 1997 John brought all his ideas together with the launch of Advertising.com and with his core Adlearn technology the site became an instant success and today Advertising.com is widely recognized as one of the most influential sites on the Internet. In 2007 John turned his attention towards philanthropy and finding new ways to use the Internet to help those in need. The result is Microgiving, which is quickly changing the face of charitable giving online.

Awards

John has won many prestigious technology and business awards including being named, along with his brother Scott Ferber, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneurs of the Year in 2000, and Washington Techway designated John as one of the region's top executives under the age of 30.

John was also named one of IT Recruiter Magazine's Top Techies to Watch. Under John's direction as chief product officer, Advertising.com has received numerous technology awards, including "Best Advertising Network" (2004) and "Best Optimization Technology" (2002) as awarded by ClickZ.
