- Sallie Wilson
Sallie Wilson (1932-2008) was a noted ballerina who appeared mostly withAmerican Ballet Theatre . She was associated with several ballets created byAnthony Tudor . In 1966, she achieved a triumph as Hagar in ABT's revival of Tudor's ballet "Pillar of Fire", set to the music ofArnold Schoenberg 's "Transfigured Night ". The ballet, contrary to expectation, is "not" based on the Biblical story of Hagar, but on the poem that inspired the Schoenberg piece (although rather loosely).
