HIMMER

SHIMMER (Sensing Health with Intelligence, Modularity, Mobility, and Experimental Reusability) is an Intel project to develop a small sensing device that is suitable for long-term wear and can be used to capture physiological and behavioral data. The goal of SHIMMER is to facilitate research in independent-living technologies through a compact, extensible platform based on an open, flexible architecture.

The firmware for the SHIMMER devices is written using TinyOS and it is possible to write any number of external programs (maybe PC-based, but also any other platforms) talking to a SHIMMER - a very friendly platform for that is BioMOBIUS.
