Nihongo|"Gekkō no Carnevale"|月光のカルネヴァーレ|Gekkō no Karunevāre is a Japanese eroge visual novel developed by Nitroplus that was released on January 26 2007. "Gekkō no Carnevale" has been adapted into a manga and there is also a light novel based on an alternate story. It is a supernatural visual novel that also has action and thriller elements.

The title means "Carnivale of Moonlight" and carnivale meaning Carnival therefore the English title would be "Carnival of Moonlight".

Plot and Setting

The story takes place in a city resembling Italy, known as Belmonte. With technology levels resembling levels in the late 19th century. In this city there are human-sized mechanical dolls known as "Automata" who serve the people of the city.

The protagonist, Romeo, is a taxi driver who originally was involved in a organization known as the "Olma Rossa". He finds one such automata in the shape of a young woman, who appears to have amnesia. He names Anna, and they start to live together. However sometime later, the Olma Rossa begin to catch up to Romeo. Along with them a organization composed of automata appears. And so Romeo must fight to protect his current life.

Reception

In the first half of the year of 2007, "Gekkō no Carnevale" was able to net enough sales to place it as the 50th highest selling visual novel in Japan.
