Herman K. Ankeney Middle School is located in
Beavercreek, Ohio and is part of theBeavercreek City School District . The current principal is Pam Taiclet, and the assistant principal is Dr. David Cloud. For the 2007-2008 school year Ankeney Middle School earned the school rating of "Excellent-With Distinction" from the Ohio Department of Education, the highest rating an Ohio school can achieve.Teams
As with
Ferguson Middle School , there are teams that split up the schools sixth, seventh, and eighth grades into different teams that make it easier for the teachers to get to know their students. The sixth grade teams are Green, Stars, and Legacy. The seventh grades teams are Respect, and Gold. The eight grade teams are A-Team, Patriot, and Thunderbird.Extracurricular Activities
Ankeney Middle School has aTrack and Field Team,Football Team,Softball Team,Baseball Team,Basketball Team,Cheer Leading Squad, andCross Country Team.Many of these are not available to students until they are in seventh and eighth grade.In addition to these sports extracurricular activities, Ankeney Middle School also has many educational extracurricular activities. These include:Mathcounts and the Annual Science Fair. The school also has a show choir, "Connection," which has won numerous awards and has been praised as one of the best middle school show choirs in the Nation.
Annual Activities
Every year, Ankeney hosts a Talent Show. There is preliminary judging each year before the Talent Show, which is organized by Mrs. Marilea Smith, the Ankeney Choir and Music teacher.
Awards
In 2008, Ankeney Middle School was ranked as one of the top twenty-five schools of character. It was later visited by character counselors from Washington DC in a contest to be ranked amongst the top fifteen schools of character. Ankeney was also awarded the 2008 Ohio School of Character award.
