Bayan (khan)

Bayan (khan)

Bayan (or Buyan; Naiyan Баян) was one of most famous khans of White Horde. When he became a khan, his cousin and relatives revolted against him. And they were supported by Khaidu and Duwa. Bayan fought his rebel cousin Khoruchak and Kaidu's force several times. And he asked help from Khan Tokhta of Blue Horde. Tokhta was angry with the situation and warned Khaidu not to help the rebel prince.

Buyan also tried to ally with Temur khan of Yuan Dynasty against Chagatai Khanate and Khaidu. But the distance between them made it ineffective. With the assistance of Tokhta, Buyan defeated his enemies and ruled his Horde till 1309. It is claimed that Circassians and Hungarians (probably Bashkirs) served in his army [Encyclopedia of Mongol Empire, see White Horde] .
