In 1999, before graduating from the
University of Texas at Austin with a degree in the school’s newly created “Bachelor of Science in Public Relations,” Hicks left for NY to work asproduction assistant forMTV ’s “Choose or Lose” 2000. Hicks returned toTexas to get her degree then immediately went back to NY late in 2001 to work as the SeriesAssociate Producer for the award-winningMTV True Life documentary series.While working for True Life, Hicks met
