Henry Black (rakugoka)

Henry James Black (1858–1923) was a kabuki actor and Japan's only foreign-born rakugoka, or public storyteller, performing under the name nihongo|Kairakutei Black|快楽亭ブラック|Kairakutei Burakku. He was also known by the name Ishii Black (Nihongo2|石井貎刺屈). [Heinz and Miyoko, 133.] His father was J. R. Black, singer and publisher of several newspapers in Japan, including "The Far East".
