Čhaŋnúŋpa?? is the Lakota name for the sacred pipe used in religious rituals. Though it is sometimes called the peace pipe the čhaŋnúŋpa is used in many rituals besides peace talks. It is considered the holiest of all Lakota worship symbols and is said to have been given to the people by the White Buffalo Calf Woman.
