Tembleques

Tembleques

Tembleques are hair ornaments worn with the traditional Panamanian dress, the pollera. They are made of beads on a spring so that they tremble when the wearer dances. They are most often traditionally made of pearlescent beads although colours have become popular in recent decades. They may take the form of flowers, butterflies and other natural symbols of beauty. Along with combs and crowns they cover the head in richness.
