Paul Mealor (born

A private composition pupil of
John Pickard ,Per Nørgård andHans Abrahamsen , Paul Mealor read music at theUniversity of York studying composition withNicola LeFanu (BA, 1997; PhD, 2003). His music has been commissioned and performed at many festivals around the world by such leading ensembles as theBBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Britten Sinfonia. His music has been broadcast on BBC Radio Three, Four, Japanese, Swedish and Danish Radios. He is Senior Lecturer in Music at theUniversity of Aberdeen (where he has taught since January 2003) and is Artistic Director of both the Northop Festival of Music (North Wales) and the University of Aberdeen Music Prize (in association with theBBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra ) [http://www.abdn.ac.uk/aberdeenmusicprize/] . In 2003 he was elected a Fellow of theRoyal Society of Arts .
