Alan Wales, born 07/08/1985, is a runner from Scotland who was AAA Under 23 1500m Champion in 2006.
Having been brough up in Ellon, Scotland, to a Scottish father and French mother, Alan Wales earned his first Scottish international vest in 2002 at the Celtic Games in Ireland [ [http://www.athleticsdata.com/athletes/profile.aspx?athleteid=1684 Athlete Profile ] ] .
In 2003 Wales started a degree in Psychology at Loughborough University in England where he was coached by Terry Kerr, joining in George Gandy's group sessions. Having run for Loughborough at British University competition throughout his three year course, his breakthrough came in 2006 when he finished second in the BUSA Indoor 3000m in a personal best of 8:27:22 [ [http://www.athleticsdata.com/results/results.aspx?meetingid=661&event=3000&venue=Sheffield&date=26-Feb-06 Results ] ] , narrowly losing out to Mark Buckingham. Wales suffered prolonged injury in both the 2006 and 2007 winter periods and was unable to suitably defend his AAA Under 23 title.
During injury lay off over the winter and spring of 2007 Wales developed the website www.eightlane.com [www.eightlane.com] which has gathered a strong following of British athletes. He is currently in his second year studying for a PhD in Sleep Psychology at Loughborough University.
