Vale of Glamorgan Line from 12 km (7¼ miles) south of Cardiff Central towards Bridgend (via Barry and Rhoose) and Barry Island.It was built after the
Barry Railway Company was incorporated byAct of Parliament on14 August 1884 , for the construction of a dock at Barry Island. The company also ranPaddle Steamer s from the near by pier across theBristol Channel , but eventually sold out to theBristol company ofP and A Campbell .Rail passenger services are operated by
Arriva Trains Wales as part of theValley Lines network.ervices
Monday to Saturday dayimes there is a 15 minute frequency northbound to Cardiff Central and beyond. Southbound 3 trains per hour to Barry Island and an hourly service to Bridgend via Rhoose.
Evenings and Sundays there is a generally a half-hourly service to Cardiff Central. Evenings there is an hourly service southbound to Barry Island and Bridgend whilst on Sundays half-hourly to Barry Island and every two hours to Bridgend.
