Jiangnan Shipyard is the main
shipyard of Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co. Others include the manufacture of machinery and electrical equipment, pressure vessels and steel works for various land-based products.
History
The ship yard was established in 1865 (Tongzhi 4th year of
Qing Dynasty ). It was previously named "Jiangnan Machine Manufacturer", and renamed "Jiangnan Shipbuilding Works" in 1912 and "Jiangnan Shipyard" in 1949. During the latter period, it was also known in the 1920s as "Kiangnan Dock and Engineering Works". In 1996 the yard became the state-owned, solely funded, "Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Company Limited". In August 2000, theQiuxin Shipyard became a wholey owned subsidiary, although its name and identity will remain.In the 1920s Kiangnan built six new river
