Cara Mia

"Cara Mia" is a popular song published in 1954. The title means "my beloved" in Italian. The United Kingdom singer, David Whitfield, first recorded the song with the Mantovani Orchestra in 1954. This recording made the charts in the United States, and in the UK it was the first record to spend ten weeks in the #1 slot on the UK Singles Chart. In 1965 it was recorded by Jay and the Americans for a #4 chart hit in the U.S.

Authorship of the song was credited to "Tulio Trapani and Lee Lange." In reality Lee Lange was a pseudonym for Whitfield's producer Bunny Lewis, and Tulio Trapani was the nom de plume of the song's co-writer and arranger Mantovani.

"Cara Mia" is the pet name Gomez Addams has for his wife Morticia, in the 1960s live action television series, "The Addams Family".
