Aipy

Aipy

Aipy (Greek: Αίπυ, Polytonic: Αἶπυ) or Typaneai (Greek: Τυπανέαι) was an ancient city in Elis, the modern Ilia Prefecture, Greece. It was one of the oldest cities in Elis and was a member of the Minyae which had six cities, it was located near Makistos and according to Homer, they were prepared for the Trojan War. [Homer. "Iliad", I; Strabo. "Geographica", V.] The ancient city has never been excavated and is 5 km from Platania. An ancient wall of the acropolis survives into the present together with a theatre and an agora (market), now entirely in rubble.
