Robert Boyd, 4th Lord Boyd

Robert Boyd, 4th Lord Boyd

Robert Boyd, 4th Lord Boyd (d. c. 1550), was the son of Alexander Boyd, and grandson of Robert Boyd, 1st Lord Boyd. Robert was confirmed in the possession of the estates and honours of his grandfather in 1549. In 1580 he received a grant of land at Bedlay, near Chryston, from his kinsman James Boyd of Trochrig, the Protestant Archbishop of Glasgow. He built Bedlay Castle on these lands soon afterward.
