Lauren Dukoff

Lauren Dukoff (born 1984) is an American photographer noted for her portraiture and documentary work of musicians.

Lauren Dukoff was born in California. Lauren Dukoff briefly studied photography at the Brooks Institute of Photography but left after one year. She learned photography from her father and got her start by documenting long time friend Devendra Banhart musical career. Banhart says Dukoff struck him with her “crystal-clear certainty” that photography was exactly what she wanted to be doing; additional, he says being around someone so sure at such a young age impacted him. “I knew I was a painter and a songwriter thanks to her,” he says. “She’s managed to make a ratty creaker like me look somewhat elegant and poised, a feat of great magnitude.” [ Banhart, Devendra, page 20. Lauren Dukoff has photographed Devendra Banhart, Kim Gordon, Beck, Mary J Blige, Sheryl Crow, Morrissey, Noah Georgeson, Joanna Newsom, Vetiver,Cobra Starship and a number of other musicians. The photographer is currently working on a photography book of her own to be released by Chronicle books in 2009. Lauren Dukoff exhibited her work at the UCLA Hammer Museum in Los Angeles in collaboration with a performance by Devendra Banhart's and Gregory Rogove's new project entitled Megapuss. Lauren Dukoff lives and works in Los Angeles CA. Lauren Dukoff is also known as Lo or Lolo to her close friends and family. Dukoff also shares a close working and personal relationship with the musician Victoria Asher who is a member of the band Cobra Starship.
