Hana Meisel or Meizel (1890 – 1972) ( _he. חנה מייזל) was a Jewish
agronomist ,feminist andZionist .Life
Meisel was born in
Byelorussia [Who's who in Jewish History, written by Joan Comay, Lavinia Cohn-Sherbok, published by Routledge, 2002, ISBN:0415260302, page 145] in 1890, and immigrated toPalestine in 1909, during theSecond Aliyah , where she became a noted agronomist, and was a founder of Haalamot ( _he. חוותהעלמות) agricultural school in 1911 (closed in 1917), and the agricultural school for girls atNahalal .She made considerable contributions to the
feminist wing of theZionist movement.Meisel was a member of
Poale Zion , and studied agriculture and natural science inOdessa ,Switzerland andFrance .She married
Eliezer Shohat , also a well known figure in the Zionist movement.She died in 1972.
