Sharifa Dina bint 'Abdu'l-Hamid (born in 1929 in Cairo, Egypt), is an Egyptian born, third cousin of King Hussein's father, King Talal and former wife of King Hussein.

Education and Life

Dina is a graduate of Cambridge University and a former lecturer in English literature at Cairo University.

Marriage

Dina married King Hussein of Jordan on April 18, 1955. The bride was 26 and the groom was 19. Upon her marriage she became Queen Dina of Jordan.They had one child:
* Princess Alia (born february 13, 1956) - first married to Mr. Nasser Wasfi Mirza 1977, and has one son, Prince Hussein Mirza, (born 12 February 1981). They divorced in 1987. She then married Sayyid Mohammed Al-Saleh in 1988 and they have two sons, Talal, born September 12, 1989 and Abdul, (born November 15, 1992).

King Hussein and Queen Dina separated in 1956 and were divorced on June 24, 1957, at which time Queen Dina became known as HRH Princess Dina Adbul-Hamid of Jordan. In October 1970 she married Asad Sulayman Abd al-Qadir, alias Salah Taamari, a Palestinian guerrilla commando who became a high-ranking official in the Palestine Liberation Organization.
