The club was founded in November 2006 by Richard Lord after many months of work on the project. His ideals were to set up a club with its own pitch in the Wolverhampton area. Also key to his ideals were the use of Rugby League players or players who played Rugby League as their first sport. This is unlike many clubs outside the Rugby League Heartlands who rely on Rugby Union players who play the game as a secondary sport or even an out of season gap filler.
On the 10th November Paul Yuen with many years experience in the game was recruited as Head coach. The first training and recruiting sessions began in January 2007 at West Park, Wolverhampton. Within the first three months a foundation of players were put together consisting of a mix of players from the north and more importantly the local area.
In April the
Wolverhampton City Council granted the sole use of a pitch for a rugby league for the first time in its history.2007 Season
Wolverhampton Warlords entered into the
RL Merit League .Wolverhampton Warlords first game was played on the 12th of May 2007 against the
Chesterfield Spires RLFC away. The Warlords were defeated 52 - 12 in a credible debut game. The clubs first try was scored by James Noble, the first conversion by Richard Noble. The first home game was played against the German Exiles.The season was finished off with a couple of games against local rivalsBirmingham Bulldogs andTelford Raiders who were two leagues above the Warlords. This demonstrated how far the club had come in such a short space of time.2008 Season
The Wolverhampton Warlords are once again competing in the
