Edwards James Keymer Roberts was an Anglican Bishop who held three separate appointments between 1956 and 1977 [Who’s Who London, A & C Black,1992 ISBN 0713635142] . Born in 1908 he was educated at Marlborough and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and ordained priest in 1932 [Crockford's clerical directory London, Church House 1975 ISBN 0108153674] . After a Curacy at "All Saints, Margaret Street" [ [http://www.allsaintsmargaretstreet.org.uk/ Church web-site] ] in central London and four years as Vice Principal of Cuddesdon he was to spend a long period in the Diocese of Portsmouth as successively Examining Chaplain to the Bishop, Vicar of "St Matthew’s Southsea" and Archdeacon of the Isle of Wight (then Portsmouth) before elevation to the Episcopate in 1956 [The Times, Wednesday, Jul 25, 1956; pg. 10; Issue 53592; col F New Bishop Of Malmesbury ] . After six years in Wiltshire he was translated to Kensington and after a short period Ely. in 1977 he retired to his former Isle of Wight parish and died on 29 June 2001.
