Słupca Lake ( _pl. Jezioro Słupeckie) is an artificial reservoir in Poland created in 1955, on formerly turbary land, as a recreational centre. It has a surface of 258 hectares, with 0.9 km breadth and length of 3.6 km.

From the south the lake borders on Słupca Town Park, amphitheater, shooting range and two stadiums. The lake, being fed by the Meszna River, is situated at the edge of the town of Słupca and has long been a border of urban development. These days, however, thanks to significant improvement of the community's economy driven mainly by the proximity of the city of Poznań, is becoming a surrounded with dwellings of newly-formed local middle and upper classes.

Tourism activities

In the past, the Lake would be a site of motor-boat races and a popular active-tourism destination. Among sports which would be practiced here one can enumerate: canoeing, surfing, swimming, sailing and a great deal of others. Underwater sports such as scuba diving or snorkeling had never been well established because of both the lake's depth, barely amounting to 2.5 metres, and it's muddy waters. Nevertheless, it had been believed that it's waters have curative effect. For this reason, every summer a number of tourists from all over the country would arrive in the town to take advantage of the lake's waters.

These days, the lake has declined in popularity after its waters had been declared inappropriate for swimming. Despite a number of authorities-led actions to promote the lake both business and tourists lost interest in the lake. Currently, it's a popular angling site thanks to a considerable population of: carps, eels, perchs and roachs. Located on the shoreline, there is also a district-popular disco 'Matrix' opened almost every day, taking pride in being able to cater for everybody's taste, offering refreshments, international food, drinks and of course good music. Jogging, walks and cycling are among most popular uses of the shoreline for locals.
