Rokytno

Rokytno is a village near Sezemice in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. It has a population of 748 (2004).

The place is first mentioned in written document in 1436. Its name is derived from willows ("rokytí") growing in swampy areas. During the 18th century, the village, together with Chvojenec and Býšť, was center of persecuted religious sect of Deists (called "blouznivci"). The first school was built in 1794.

Several small nearby villages are officially part of Rokytno:
* Bohumileč: 114 inhabitants, which existed before the 15th century; its name comes from "Bohu milí" ("loved by God").
* Drahoš ("Maindorf" in German): 31 inhabitants, which was set up during the rule of Joseph II; since 1782, it was settled by German-speaking farmers from around Kladsko area and Lower Silesia- named after personal name "Drahoslav".
* Zástava: 26 inhabitants, which was set up during rule of Joseph II; was named after a farmer living there.

Přesypy near Rokytno is a unique and protected area (0.07 km²) of sand dunes [http://www.rokytno.cz/index0.php?id=foto&dotaz=TITULEK&dotaza=Přesypy%20u%20Rokytna] .
