Aristolochene

Aristolochene is a bicyclic sesquiterpene molecule produced by certain fungi including the cheese mould "Penicillium roqueforti". It is synthesised by aristolochene synthase, and is the parent hydrocarbon of a large variety of fungal toxins [http://www.pharmacy.arizona.edu/faculty/moorelab/classes/chem549/terpenes.pdf] .
