Pariah group

Pariah group

In mathematics, especially in the field of algebra known as group theory, the term pariah is used to distinguish a few sporadic simple groups which are not related to the monster simple group. Most of the 26 sporadic simple groups are either subgroups or sections of the monster group. The six exceptions are known as the pariah groups.

These groups are:
*Three of the Janko groups: "J"1, "J"3, and "J"4.
*The Lyons group
*The O'Nan group
*The Rudvalis group
