George Alfred Swartz

George Alfred Swartz was the ninth Bishop of Kimberley and Kuruman [ Crockford's clerical directory 1975:Lambeth, Church House, 1975 ISBN 0108153674 ] . He was born on 8 September 1928 and educated at the University of the Witwatersrand and Pembroke College, Cambridge [Who’s Who 1992 London, A & C Black, 1992 ISBN 0713635142] .Ordained in 1955, he began his career with a Curacy in Cape Town and held a number of pastoral posts in the area before becoming a Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese in 1972. Eleven years later he was translated to Kimberley and Kuruman where he remained until retirement.
