John V. Wertheim (born
12 February ,1968 ) is an Americanlawyer andpolitician who served as Chairman of theDemocratic Party (United States) ofNew Mexico from 2004 until 2007. During that time, he also served on the Executive Committee of theDemocratic National Committee . In 1996, he was the Democratic nominee for theUnited States House of Representatives inNew Mexico's 1st congressional district against the incumbent RepresentativeSteve Schiff of theRepublican Party (United States) .
