Joseph William "Joey" Utsler (born October 14, 1974 [ [http://www.state.mi.us/mdoc/asp/otis2profile.asp?mdocNumber=675115 Michigan State Corrections] ] ), better known as Shaggy 2 Dope is one half of the Insane Clown Posse, along with fellow rapper Joseph Bruce (known as Violent J). Along with Violent J and their former manager, Alex Abbiss, the trio founded Psychopathic Records. Shaggy is the person who invented and drew the Hatchetman (the Psychopathic Records logo) as well as numerous ICP album covers.cite book |last=Bruce |first=Joseph |authorlink=Joseph Bruce |coauthors=Hobey Echlin |editor=Nathan Fostey |title=ICP: Behind the Paint |origdate= |origyear=2003 |origmonth=August |edition=2nd Edition |publisher=Psychopathic Records |location=Royal Oak, Michigan |isbn=09741846083 |pages=pages 139—144 |chapter=Intelligence and Violence ]

Wrestling career

Utsler is also a professional wrestler. He started off in the 1980's backyard wrestling alongside his friends Joe Bruce and "The Rude Boy" Rudy Hill.cite book |last=Bruce |first=Joseph |authorlink= |coauthors=Hobey Echlin |editor=Nathan Fostey |title=ICP: Behind the Paint |origdate= |origyear=2003 |origmonth=August |edition=2nd Edition |publisher=Psychopathic Records |location=Royal Oak, Michigan |isbn=09741846083 |pages=page 51-61 |chapter=JJ Boys and The Royal Oak Township ] In 1989, Bruce started training to become a professional wrestler. In 1990, Utsler decided to start training as well, but trained as a manager. After forming the Insane Clown Posse, and for a short period not being involved in wrestling, ICP was back in the ring. This time Shaggy (Utsler) wrestled along with Violent J (Bruce), instead of just managing. Since then, the two have competed for the likes of World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Wrestling Federation (WWF), Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), XPW and their own promotion, JCW. In WCW, Shaggy even had a brief period where he was wrestling as a singles competitor.cite book |last=Bruce |first=Joseph |authorlink= |coauthors=Hobey Echlin |editor=Nathan Fostey |title=ICP: Behind the Paint |origdate= |origyear=2003 |origmonth=August |edition=2nd Edition |publisher=Psychopathic Records |location=Royal Oak, Michigan |isbn=09741846083 |pages=page 398-413 |chapter=Taking Bumps ]

Personal life

In 1998, Utsler, Joe Bruce, and others were arrested following a brawl at a Waffle House in Indiana. The incident occurred after a customer screamed insults at the group resulting in a huge fight. He along with Violent J, Myzery, and Twiztid pled guilty to disorderly conduct charges. The charges were later dismissed so they could perform later that night.cite news |url=http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/5929428/insane_clown_posse_plead_guilty |title=Insane Clown Posse Plead Guilty |accessdate=2007-12-26 |last=Bendersky |first=Ari |coauthors= |date=June 11, 1998 |work= |publisher="Rolling Stone"]

In late 2005-2006, Utsler was admitted to a rehabilitation center, due to alcoholism, on the Howard Stern Show. He was given the recommendation to do so by close family and friends. He has since stopped attending bars and has spent much more time in the studio and with family.
