"The One Thing" was the first successfully-released chart hit for the band INXS from the album "Shabooh Shoobah" which was released worldwide in the spring of 1982.

Shabooh Shoobah reached #52 on the Billboard 200 and # 46 on the Hot Pop Albums chart. [4] [5] "The One Thing" brought INXS their first Top-30 hit in the United States and was also a Top-20 hit in Canada. [6] INXS played alongside many of their contemporaries on New Wave Day at the 1983 US Festival. [7] Many songs from Shabooh Shoobah were featured prominently in the 1984 film Reckless. [8]

"The One Thing" is notably featured in "" on the fictional radio station Flash FM.

The song features Michael Hutchence on lead vocals.
