Global Custodian Multimedia

[http://home.globalcustodian.com/multimedia/vodcast.do Global Custodian Multimedia] , the New York City- and London-based “new media” arm of Global Custodian Magazine and GlobalCustodian.com, was developed in spring of 2007 as a free-of-charge add-on to the online content of the magazine. The multimedia section of the GlobalCustodian.com website contains weekly podcasts that summarize the week’s top securities services news stories and vodcasts/vlogs on topical current events. The Global Custodian Multimedia team is headed up by Christopher Gohlke, Global Custodian Magazine’s multimedia editor.

Podcasts

[http://home.globalcustodian.com Global Custodian] became the first European trade publication covering the financial securities industry to launch a multimedia offering when it broadcasted its first podcast on April 11, 2007. Since then, the Global Custodian podcasts have covered extensively the subprime mortgage crisis, mergers and acquisitions, mandates, rogue trades, and other industry hot topics. Podcasts often contain clips of interviews with the players involved in the news stories. Special edition podcasts are sometimes broadcast, with various Global Custodian reporters and editors interviewing executives and analysts on a variety of topics. News round-up podcasts are published Mondays and can be downloaded free from the GlobalCustodian.com website.

Vodcasts

In the summer of 2007, Global Custodian Multimedia added video capabilities when it launched its first “vodcast” covering a conference in Surrey, England, hosted by Polaris Software Lab. Since then, the multimedia team has covered events around the world, including Europe, the United States and Asia. Additionally, Global Custodian Multimedia also produces vodcasts with industry players speaking on current themes, often an expansion on topics covered in the news round-up podcasts.

Blog

Global Custodian Multimedia also publishes a blog, where editors and reporters of the magazine weigh in on current events in the industry.

Documentary

From July through December 2007, Global Custodian Multimedia produced the first-ever documentary covering the European securities services industry. “Opportunities and Challenges in the European Securities Services Industry” was distributed as a DVD packaged with the Winter 2008 edition of Global Custodian Magazine released in January 2008, and was simultaneously broadcast on the Global Custodian Multimedia website.

The 75-minute documentary provided an updated picture of the securities services industry in Europe, with European banks and other players, as well as clients of European service providers, appearing on the film. Executives from Societe Generale, BNP Paribas, JPMorgan, The Bank of New York Mellon, Santander, SEB, RBC Dexia, Clearstream, Euroclear, ICAP and SWIFT appeared in the documentary, as well as Global Custodian’s editor-in-chief, Dominic Hobson, who provided his expert analysis.
