Arnold Fishkin

Arnold Fishkin, sometimes credited as Arnold Fishkind (b. July 20, 1919, Bayonne, New Jersey) is an American jazz bassist.

Fishkin learned violin as a child growing up on Long Island, where he knew Chubby Jackson as a child. Fishkin picked up bass at 14, and had his first professional gig with Bunny Berigan ni 1937. Following this he played with Jack Teagarden (1940-41) and Les Brown (1941-42). In the mid-1940s he worked in Hollywood with Charlie Barnet, playing alongside Stan Getz. From 1947 to 1949 he played with Lennie Tristano, and from 1949 to 1951 he appeared on recordings from Lee Konitz and Johnny Smith. In the 1950s he found much work as a session musician for radio, television, and pop musicians (including Frankie Laine). he continued to record into the 1980s, appearing on over 100 jazz albums.
