Maasai Hip hop

Maasai Hip hop is a genre of Hip Hop that originates in Northern Tanzania.Fact|date=March 2008 This Hip Hop music is very dear to the Maasai people;Fact|date=March 2008 with groups like X-Plastaz using the Maasai tradition to base their sound and style. Maasai Hip Hop is an expansion from the Bongo Flava, which is rap music from Swahili.

By creating 'Maasai Hip hop' - using the tradition of this tribe as the focal point of their sound and style - X-Plastaz are taking Bongo Flava in a totally new direction. The rap pounds along, complemented by the unique pitch of Maasai singing and deep acapella chanting. The production is slick, mixing in slow-paced back beats and reggae rhythms to create something altogether new.
