Fiona Armstrong

Fiona Armstrong (born November 28th, 1956) (Sagittarius) is a British newsreader who was born in West Cumbria. She was the female anchor on ITV Border's Lookaround - the company's flagship evening news programme - for many years, but now only anchors on Fridays. She was replaced Monday-Thursdays by Kate Fisher in 2008.

Fiona joined Border Television (now ITV Border since 2004) in 1983 as a reporter, before becoming a regular newsreader. Then in 1987, she switched to ITN as a presenter on "News at Ten", (later ) and other bulletins, including a brief stint on Channel 4 News. In 1993, she was one of the launch team on the ITV 1 breakfast station GMTV, but left after only a few months.

She later rejoined ITV Border - based in Carlisle, England - and became the female anchor of Lookaround, as well as a presenter/producer on a number of regional programmes for Border Television, such as "River Journeys".
