DeWeldon is a native of the Washington, D.C. and Newport, Rhode Island area. He is the son of the late sculptor Felix de Weldon, known for the Marine Corps War Memorial statue of the flag raising at Iwo Jima.
Work
As an actor, DeWeldon's theatrical debut was in the 1999 Los Angeles production of David Rabes Streamers, receiving the Los Angeles Times Critics Choice. Daniel completed a six-year theatrical masters program under Uta Hagen, Michael Arabian and Howard Fine. In 2003, DeWeldon presented himself to the legendary Actors Studio and garnered the prestigious title of Lifetime Member under Al Pacino, Martin Landau and Mark Rydell. In 2006, he starred in The Actors Studio presentation of Death of a Salesman.
Daniel DeWeldon went on to produce, direct and star in the 2003 LA production of Edward Albees’ The Zoo Story. In 2007 DeWeldon then produced and starred in the Los Angeles play, Danny and The Deep Blue Sea with Deborah Dir. This revival of the classic John Patrick Shanley play ran for six months and received twelve acclaimed Critics Choice. At the 29th Annual LA Weekly Theater Awards Danny & The Deep Blue Sea was nominated for Best Two-Person Show & Best Production Design.[1] 2009 DeWeldon starred opposite 3 time Emmy Award winning actress Barbara Bain in "The Laramie Project" at Grand Performances in Los Angeles, hosted by Glen Close presented world-wide by satellite.
On the screen, DeWeldon's feature film credits include: "Fortune 500" - 2010, "From The Ashes"- 2009, "Black Angel"- 2009, Select Fit, [1] and The Bill (dir. Daniel Roemer); The Night Before The Morning After and Friendly Fire (dir. Max Maksimovic); Amsterdam (dir. Ron Fernandez); and Headhunting, Inc. (dir. Pat Ortman). Currently, DeWeldon is starring in a new web-based series Gods of LA (dir. Ron Fernandez) in the lead role as Titan.
Daniel DeWeldon has taken on the role of film producer through his company Volition Entertainment Productions. The first film, The Elephant Ride stars DeWeldon and is based on a true story. Currently attached to the project are producer David Hillary (Deviant films), Michael Arabian, Martin Landau, SEAL, Armand Assante, and Wolfgang Hatz Mr. Engine Audi.
Also in development is the biopic based on the life of Daniel's father Felix DeWeldon, titled DeWeldon - The Man Behind The Monuments. The film encapsulates his life and career as an artist. Daniel DeWeldon is collaborating on the script with Allen Nalasco, and is slated to play the role of his father during the height of his career.
