Upstate New York Club Hockey League

The Upstate New York Club Hockey League is a club hockey league consisting of teams from the region of Upstate New York. This league was formed in 2006 by current league commissioner Andrew Musto. Musto envisioned a college league that would allow players, "who maybe wouldn't be able to play at a division level, to play one more time." The league consists of 5 teams but coming in the 2008-2009 season will add two more teams ; Colgate University and Canisius College. The league's two year run has produced two different champions, suggesting great parity within such a small league. The UNYCHL is an important step to the CNY area hockey scene because it provides a level of hockey more fit to the average player, and allows a multitude of teams to join where previously there was no opportunity like this. The league is constantly looking to add new teams; any teams looking to join should contact one of the league officials at the league's website, [http://unychl.tripod.com UNYCHL] .To learn more about the sport and its history see Ice Hockeyor [http://www.NHL.com NHL]
