John Steven Mabry (born October 17 1970 in Wilmington, Delaware) is a former Major League Baseball player. He has 898 career hits in 3409 at bats (for a batting average of .263), with 96 home runs and 446 RBI. He is 6'4" tall, weighs 210 lbs and bats left-handed and throws right-handed.

Mabry, a graduate of Bohemia Manor High School, in Chesapeake City, Maryland, played three years at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, before being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 6th round of the by|1991 amateur draft. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals three different times (by|1994-by|1998, by|2001, by|2004-by|2005). In Mabry's only season with over 400 at bats, he batted for the cycle in a May 18, by|1996 loss to the Colorado Rockies. He is one of the few major leaguers who prefers not to wear batting gloves.

Mabry is somewhat versatile on defense, having played more than 100 games at left and right field as well as first and third base. He has worked with former St. Louis Cardinals catcher Mike Matheny in order to serve as emergency catcher should a situation require it, although this scenario has not yet occurred. He has even made two career appearances pitching, pitching a total of 1 inning and giving up 7 earned runs for an ERA of 63. [http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/mabryjo01.shtml]
