Monster Energy is an energy drink that was launched by Hansen Natural in 2002.[1]

Distribution

Monster Energy is distributed by Hansen Natural a listed company of Corona, California. Though it is not widely advertised in the media, Monster receives a large amount of recognition from its sponsorship of various sporting events. Hansen Natural Corporation announced a distribution agreement with Anheuser-Busch in the U.S.[2] and Grupo Jumex in Mexico.[3] Hansen Natural Corporation announced a distribution deal with PepsiCo Canada in February of 2007. Contracts with existing distributors were bought out in these markets. In Germany Pepsi is the Producer and it is available there since summer/fall 2010. It is distributed in Australia by Schweppes as Coca-Cola Amatil manufactures Mother energy drink, which is an exclusive energy drink sold only in Australia and New Zealand

The caffeine content of most Monster energy drinks is approx. 10mg/oz(33.81mg/100mls),[4][5] or 160 mg for a 16 oz can. As with most other energy drinks the packaging usually has a warning printed on it saying to limit the number of cans consumed in a day - to 3 for the 16 oz size (one per day in Australia and the UK), and it is not recommended for children, pregnant women or people sensitive to caffeine.

Monster sponsors a motocross race team named "Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki".[8] The brand is also the title sponsor of the French motorcycle Grand Prix.[9] Prior to this, Monster sponsored Kawasaki. The Vans Warped Tour features a Monster touring bus that gives out free Monster Energy Drinks during the event. Monster Energy is a sponsor of the X Games, and features in the videogames Colin McRae: Dirt 2, Dirt 3, Skate 2 as well as Skate 3.

In September 2009, Monster Energy teamed up with Activision to bring special redeemable codes on the Monster Energy website where people can submit codes included in Monster Energy packs to redeem things such as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Premium Themes and a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Map Pack code.[10][11] In addition, Monster Energy were among the main sponsors of the 2009 Sonisphere Festival in Knebworth, UK.

Monster also sponsors the North American E-sports team Evil Geniuses and provides them with a fridge full of Monster for their gaming house in Arizona.
