"Gift Horse" (AKA "The Gift Horse" or "Glory At Sea") is a 1952 British film starring Trevor Howard and Richard Attenborough.

ynopsis

A disgraced former Captain re-enlists into the Royal Navy during World War II and forms the crew and his run-down ship into an efficient fighting force before being sent on a suicide mission.

Historical basis

The latter part of the film is clearly based on HMS "Campbeltown" and the St. Nazaire Raid.
